medical care and educate their children in the communities where they live. As America’s largest union representing non-government employees, the United Food and Commercial Workers leads the way toward achieving better wages and benefits in the service sector.

Our members, who include retail employees, health care workers, office staffers and food processors, as well as factory workers, have careers that can lead them into the middle class.

They have realistic hopes of owning homes, educating their children and retiring in comfort.

As Wal-mart and other non-union corporations try to bring Third World standards into our communities, sending wages and benefits spiraling downward, the UFCW rises to the defense of its members and all working Americans who aspire to a better life.

At one time America’s factories were hellish places where workers were exploited and abused, but unions changed all that, transforming the sweatshops into portals of prosperity. Today, we offer the same hope for people in the service industries.
